Meal Planning for the week of January 5th

One way I am hoping to organize my household is by pre-planning dinners for the week. This will not only help with organizing my life but with our budget. Pre-planning meals helps cut down on the return trips to the grocery stores, eating out and purchasing unnecessary items.

Monday: Slow Cooker Chili
Tuesday: Lasagna
Wednesday: Leftover Chili from Monday on Baked Potatoes
Thursday: Crock Pot Chicken Picante  from Skinny Taste
Friday: Leftovers

New Year - New Resolutions

I know I'm a few days behind, but I have been carefully thinking of what I want to change in this New Year. I am never one to actually write a list, but I thought I would do so in order to be accountable to myself. Here is what I am hoping to accomplish this year:

1. Healthier diet  - Ever since I lost weight, I have been going back and forth on what to eat to stay at my so-called "perfect" weight. It has been a struggle, and frankly, it is hard to maintain! So this year I am going to use the 5/2 Fast plan - details here: http://thefastdiet.co.uk/. On my "up" days, I will make healthy choices. I plan to eat a balance of protein and good carbs.
2. Exercise regularly - Before Thanksgiving, I was attending Zumba classes and working out regularly. I am planning on joining the classes "Women on Weights" at my local YMCA. It is a combo of weight training and strengthening with cardio.
3.  Enrich my spiritual life - I have not been as involved in my church as I feel that I should be. I would like to make more of an effort to participate in my church's activities and attend Mass with more consistency.
4.  Organize - Schedule a regular organization plan to tackle 1 section of my home on a monthly basis.
5.  Organize Scrapbook - Along with organizing my home, I want to also organize my scrapbooking. At the end of last year, I started attending at least 1 crop on a monthly basis. This year, I want to continue this monthly focus but also schedule a photo dump session, at least 2 times per month organizing all of the digital photos.

I know these may seem general and broad, but if I focus on very specifics, it may be more difficult to achieve. Here's to the new year!

It's that time of the year - post holidays returns!

It seems that retailers are being more and more stingy in returning our money, even with a receipt! This morning I ventured out into return hell. Stores that have unfriendly customer service: Target and Victoria's Secret - even with a receipt! They would only return the cash to the credit card used in the purchase or give store credit. What's the point of having a receipt?

Yet, surprisingly accommodating retailers: Wal-Mart, Aeropostale and Macy's. Wal-Mart will give you store credit as long as it is an item that scans and is sold in their stores. Aeropostale has the same policy of returning cash only to the credit card used for the purchase, but the store clerk requested permission from the store manager and gave me the cash back. Macy's places a sticker on all labels for easy returns.

Definitely points to consider when making future purchases!
